The Santeiu FamilyA History of Excellent Service

In 1970, iron worker George P. Santeiu decided to venture into the burial vault business along with his two sons Mark and Tim. A 5000 square foot building on the west side of Detroit served as the company’s first location. By 1990, the business’ volume had grown enough to warrant building a 15,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility in Livonia. In order to keep up with the constant changes in the funeral industry, Southern Michigan Services (a human crematory) was added to the Livonia location in 1993. The second location of Southern Michigan Services was established in Royal Oak a decade later.

In 2006, Faithful Companion was added to the Royal Oak facility to care for the needs of pet owners. A second location was added in Charlotte, North Carolina along with franchise locations in Cincinnati, Ohio; Clifton, New Jersey; Gary, Indiana; and Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Today, Santeiu Vaults in Livonia is operated by Mark Santeiu along with his wife Denise, and their children James, Chris and Amy.  Faithful Companion in Royal Oak is operated by Tim Santeiu with his three sons Jason, Joe and Rick.  Tim’s wife, Michelle, runs the accounting operations for our Livonia and Royal Oak locations.  The Faithful Companion facility in Charlotte, North Carolina is operated by Mark and Tim’s brother Phillip Santeiu.
